“Apples to apples, we’re better. If you’re a small or medium-size business in New York City, we’ll save you money. And our on-time percentage will be better than the competition’s.”
“If you’re in charge of shipping at your company, I understand your insecurities and fears about switching from one shipper to another. Let’s face it. No one ever gets fired for choosing to ship with FedEx or UPS, even when problems do crop up.
“But I’d like to make you a deal: We’re not asking you to switch shippers. We’re not asking you to sign a contract. Let us prove to you in small steps that we can be better than the competition. Give us one package, and then two, and then your packages for a week, and we’ll show you that our service is our bond and our commitment. I promise you that we’ll raise the bar on your company’s expectations of what an international courier company should be.”
A former executive for DHL, James has a long history of working in international shipping. A decade ago during a trip to DHL’s sorting facility in Brussels, Belgium, he peered down at the thousands of the packages on conveyor belts being routed through the maze of this European hub. “There’s got to be a better and cheaper way to ship internationally,” he thought. When he returned to New York, he began working on ways to reduce the time and cost of international shipping. In 2001, FGX was born.
